Trends Francq Colors | The Chamber 2

  • TREND PICKS - concept, styling and photography by Francq Colors.

After the corona rest, we will revisit history and look back at pre-modernist and pre-capitalist wisdom. The recipes of the recent past are thrown away and replaced by a more intuitive approach.

Whenever deep system shocks occur, a resurgence of nostalgia takes place. Like the Arts & Crafts movement was in part a reaction to the industrial revolution, we will see a new wave of nostalgia in the next years. It will be characterized by a fascination for the pre-modernist and sometimes even pre-industrial age. Intuitive and indigenous wisdoms will be unearthed, and we will take inspiration from our ancestors to tackle the problems of today.

This trend will be especially strong when it ties in with the concerns of the 21st century. There will for example be a plant-based material revolution that will help us to avoid plastics. We will also turn our backs on our pre-corona all-too-globalised lifestyle and instead turn our gaze to all that is local. We will spend more time in our local community, with our neighbors for example. But make no mistake: also in the case of localism, technology will help us to strengthen these local ties, for example on neighbourhood social media groups. In these crisis times and after, we will go back to basics and embrace what was good from the past.

In interior design, this will result in a fascination for pre-modernist furniture and styles, often heavily decorated and applied in layered, very rich interiors full of eclectic references.
